= HR2002 Commending the University of Mary Washington mens basketball team =

Mr. Speaker, I rise for a motion.

I move that we take up HR2002, on page 3, out of order, and speaking to that motion:

With us in the gallery today is the University of Mary Washington men’s basketball team, our 2026 NCAA Division III National Champions.

And just recently, this team made history. They secured the first national title for a men’s team in the university’s history, finishing an extraordinary 30–3 season. They did it in dramatic fashion, winning the national championship on a last-second shot that was seen across the country and celebrated as one of the top plays in sports.

But beyond that moment, this team represents sustained excellence. They rose to the top of Division III basketball, brought national attention to the Commonwealth, and made Fredericksburg and Virginia proud.

Mr. Speaker, they are with us today along with their coaches and university leadership, and I hope it will be the will of the body to take up HR2002 out of order so we may pass this resolution and honor their achievement.
