Mr. Speaker, with us today is an extraordinary educator and leader who has dedicated more than four decades to serving the students and families of Fredericksburg. Dr. Marceline “Marci” Catlett began her journey in Fredericksburg City Public Schools as a student, graduating in 1977, and returned just a few years later to begin her career as a sixth-grade teacher at Walker-Grant Middle School. Through years of dedication, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to student success, she rose through the ranks of the school division and now serves as Superintendent of Fredericksburg City Public Schools. Under her leadership, the division has strengthened academic opportunities, expanded career and technical education, and deepened engagement with families and the community. This year, her work was recognized statewide when she was named the 2026 Region III(3) Superintendent of the Year by the Virginia Association of School Superintendents. - Today, we are proud to welcome Dr. Catlett to the Capitol.
